The weather is sweet. Make me want to move my pedalling feet

Evening, new member here. Lovely day today which has made me think of getting back into doing a bit of cycling used to do loads of it up untill about 13 years ago when I got to 15yrs old.

Anyway my old claud butler mountain bike is long gone not sure where but its not where it used to be so I need to buy something.

Not really to get to work or anything just want to do a few miles in the evening building up to a bit more on the weekends.

Any tips on what type of bike would be best? Looking at one of these Hybrids possibly. Im not after a racer style bike and won't be going off road other than maybe over a bit of grass so don't think a mountain bike is needed.

What are peoples opinions on the Hybrids? Anything I should consider/think about?

Also Im thinking to buy something second hand first, want to spend as little as possible to start off with, as I do have a habit sometimes of getting these ideas into my head spending a lot of money on them and then getting bored.

A good bike will hold it's value if you get bored. A crap bike will more likely get you bored/dissillusioned more quickly.

I think a modern hybrid sounds ideal for you.

And I should know, 'cos I'm a hero like Robert DiNero.

Sounds like a plan man ;)
A Hybrid will do the job for you. Then you will get the bug and decide to upgrade to an expensive road bike after a few months

Best of luck with it and keep us posted what you decide on.

Cheers,

I predict you will pick up a reasonable 2nd hand hybrid for a little over 100 English Pounds. Be a good taster to see if you get hooked or not!

I dont mind a hundred quid thats reasonable. Ebay the best bet? or is there other places online i should be looking?

Forgot to add any makes to go for? Or avoid and stay away from? I know places like halfords do bikes for about a hundred quid but are they any good or are they best off avoiding.

Apparently you can pick up some great bicycle bargains on eBay, yeah. Never purchased a full bike off there myself though. Maybe check out the local ads and such, so you can go and test ride it first. Not really sure...

Gumtree's also good for a bargain every now and again. I know what you mean about 'projects'... want to buy a 1973 Honda PF50???
