These "the thing you like? It sucks!" posts are rather unnecessary. Are you expecting the OP, having read your opinion, to smite his forehead with his palm and expostulate "of course! I was so blind; thank you Mr Amaferanga for opening my eyes and pointing out the error of my ways! Five stroke of the lash and a trip to Halfords are my punishment."

No. But I am entitled to my opinion. I didn't realise that only Roubaix lovers and those with positive comments were allowed to post on this thread. The fact that it's massively overpriced is more significant than its looks though anyway.

Well if you like huge head tubes and sit up and beg road bikes then I can see it'd appeal.

You are indeed entitled to your opinion but "sit up and beg" is a bit harsh!

The riding position is only slightly more upright than a more conventional racer - just enough for it to be noticeably more comfortable without making a significant aerodynamic sacrifice.

If you find the geometry of a conventional racer comfortable, good for you, but bikes like the Roubaix are aimed at those of us who aren't quite as - ahem - slim or supple as we used to be.

According to this link they still offer it as a tripple? or do you mean it's a tripple but compact ? (must learn to get my head around these gear ratio thingies:unsure:

I meant this one...

Tiagra instead of 105, but it is the new 10 speed one, and as said before it does have a 30 tooth cog on the back, so nice and low geared if not quite as low as the triple.

Some people will be along to say "tiagra at that price?", but it will work well, be reliable and cheap-ish to replace the bits if needed. The frame I find, is sublime and where most of the money has been spent, either in materials or the R&D. The better componentry of the more expensive bikes are just more cherries on top of a cherry filled cake.

Or alternatively they've just put Tiagra on to boost their margins. How do we really know how much money is spent on frame construction and R&D?

Personally i think Tiagra on a £1600 or whatever bike is a joke.

I think some manufacturers take the *iss. Throwing on saddles and brakes etc that you can find online for £10-20 even on 4 figure bikes.
