is it worth paying 4 times as much as a superflash? I like the design of both the front and back they just seem too expensive. More power than needed for a flasher and not bright enough for an always on headlamp.

The thing I like about the Exposure and Hope 1 lights are that they are very well made. Generally very good battery life too. They are also visible in daylight (I've run mine in summer sun and relatives have pointed out seeing me in the distance travelling somewhere on the bike)

IMO its worth spending some money on decent lights. They are investments and usually better at throwing the beam in a certain way so as not to blind others (something some of the torches seem to do)

Agree it's worth paying for quality lights, I got a B&M Ixon IQ for 50 euros. Well made with a great reflector and bright enough to ride at a decent speed by. I just think £40 for a flasher is too expensive. There are a number of 1W lights which are more than bright enough as be seen lights for half price and less.

B&M make great lights. Love the design of the IQ and would oneday like to add one to the collection.

The flare has a steady mode too. Its as bright as the IQ. When I put my Redeye on it will light up a large area of road behind me, the White-eye (which is the front version) will show up potholes at night no problem.

Blast, that's just typical. Guess who's just bought a redeye.
I wonder if I can cancel my order quickly?

Still a great light to have imo. Best thing about the Redeye is how easy it is to mount. I cable tied mine on to the seatpost of the Jake. As I said earlier the Flare needs a test with the mount, looks flimsy.

I've been looking at the new redeye. For my commute bike, which is what I bought this light for, I think i'd rather have the wire and therefore a smaller light and one less battery to charge.

What I always wanted Exposure to do was a brass seatpost plate to lock/bolt on to the bike permanently. Must get some brass and bolts to make me own.

I haven't decided if i'm going to leave the redeye attached to the bike while its left unatttended at work or not yet. It will all depend upon how quickly I can put the light back on the bike when I want to ride home. If its a pain to remove /fit then it will just end up being zip tied to the bike perminately. I never remove any of the other rear lights, but then again they're not worth £40!. The main exposure light at £200 is always removed when I leave the bike out of sight.

If its left in a place accessable by the general public then take it off. You could bolt and cable tie it in place, then do the usual plastic bag/elastic band on the saddle to hide it I suppose.

I'm quite lucky. I have a lock up.

The Redeye is now a short version of the above!

Saw it in the new printed catalogue yesterday - nothing online yet.

One thing to factor in is that the CR123 batteries (1300mAh) are not cheap, so disposables will be expensive. However the rechargeables only rate at half teh capacity...

Add in the charger and rechargeables at £15 - 25

Got mine. It's tiny and very nicely made. The bracket looks a bit flimsy on the web pics, but is much sturdier in the flesh. Will try it in the dark on Thursday.
