You could get some Fulcrum Racing Zero's for about that money. I hear they are good and in a couple of weeks will be able to give you a view (new bike coming with them on it).

I currently ride with Mavic Ksyrium Elites, which I like a lot, but for £800, I suspect you could get lighter / better wheels.

No worries, you may need to remind me though ^_^

I am quite looking forward to seeing how they come with the Mavics, although it won't be a fair comparison as they will be part of a much costing a multiple of the current one, so I am expecting a big improvement all round

Thanks acp like the Fulcrum range its just the 21 spoke rear that puts me off as they seem to be hard to get hold of a replacement in the event of a failure. And Mavic no thanks dont want any Mavics thanks.

If you've got £800 to spend get a nice set of handbuilt wheels.

Stronger, lighter and most likely cheaper plus user serviceable parts and stock spokes.

Google Wheelsmith. Derek will make a set suited to you.

IMO spending that kind of money on factory wheels is a mugs game. And yes that includes me as I do own a pair of Easton wheels. My next pair will be another set of handbuilds. My handbuilt carbon clinchers only come out to play in summer.

All Easton Wheels are hand built.

Yes true. But you try getting replacement spokes in a LBS if u pop one. Also the lows poke count means you may not be able to cycle back.

In hindsight I regret buying them. I was naive/lazy at the time.

I suppose if u can and are willing to dispose and replace once the rim is worn or trashed in a crash then it's a free world

Have totally different experience to you with Easton's. (EA50SL)
When I had a pair. Had spokes go. One ride was a FNRttC (& SMRbtH) another was a 200k. Both times the spoke went (rear wheel 24 spokes) the wheel hardly went out of true and I was able to continue both rides.

Though my LBS did have to order the spokes in, which they did no problem (I think from Madison).

The only problem I had with Easton's were the hubs. Bloody temperamental things. They liked going clank now and again.
