So I was at work this morning, sat down and having a drink before I started.. told a workmate that my father has a hernia (which could put a damper on his fundraising later in the summer) and said workmate says:

"You better be careful you dont get a hernia!"

I was a bit confused as I'm 31, not exactly a prime candidate as far as I can see (I dont lift more than I can manage for one).. it transpired she thought that all cyclists get hernias.. ok then.

It never fails to amuse me just how ignorant non-cyclists are about the realities of cycling... yet they *know*

Is a hernia something you'd get from falling off at Herne Hill?

(Yeah, weak, I know but best I can do with the material I'm given)

Someone (20 something in age, clever, you know) told me in all seriousness that rivers switch themselves 'off' at night "just so all the people in riverside cottages don't have all that noise" - and no, he wasn't even pished!

It made me laugh (like a drain!)

She might mean because it's hereditary. Come on, give her the benefit of the doubt!

As in,

ERNIE WISE: "What, you mean it's been bought by The National Trust?"
ERIC MORECAMBE: "I didn't know it was ruptured!"

Well get this....I've just (moments ago) had a big shouting match with a very portly man at work about cycling. He reckons that cyclists should be arrested, have their bikes taken off of them and banned from cycling for not using shared cyle/foot paths!

He's what we in the trade call "a cock". Not worth arguing with.

He also told me I should be arrested for my YouTube video that show me going over 30 mph in a 30 zone, when I pointed out to him the cars overtaken me, he said I was more on the wrong than them! I'm thinking of letting the air out of his tyres and then watch him sweat as he has to do some exercise pumping them back up!

Cycling at over 30 in a 30 zone, whilst technically, you can't be done for breaking the speed limit (as the limits apply only to motor vehicles) your actions can't be condoned - the limit is there for a reason. It's irrelevant if a.n.other road user is going over 30.

Yes, but the cars are breaking the law where as I'm being a little adventurous and possible a tad wreckless(let's say). So I'd say the drivers are more in the wrong than I!

Anyway I hate being told how dangerous cycling is/cyclists are and how I should cycle by someone so fat they've probably not seen their dick in a few decades.
