Any tips on stripping and cleaning the brake calipers on my Scott speedster. with all the crap weather they arent operating very smoothly at the moment.

Dont want to pull them apart then bits spring out everywhere so any advice welcomed.

PS the brakes are Scott Pro on a 2009 Speedster 105.

It's unlikely to be the calipers - try cleaning or replacing your cables first. If it is the calipers they'll respond pretty well to a good wipe down and drip of lube at each pivot, (and then wipe the excess off) take them off the bike to make it easier.

+1. It's either the cables or the pivots or both. Even where the springs bear onto the brake arms there is some motion - so a bit of lube there will help too (after cleaning). Check your pads too.
