Stripped hole for brake adjustment grub screw

Hi,

The thread in the hole where the adjustment grub screw goes in my cantilever brake is stripped. This effectively makes the brake unusable, as there is no return spring action.

As a result of this, and because I was fed up of the difficult adjustment of canti brakes, I decided to switch to mini-v brakes (https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/mini-v-brake-cable-routing.204805/#post-4392713).

Well, this wasn't a success -- despite getting mini-v brakes that are compatible with aero levers, the cable pull still isn't right, and the levers are touching the bars without full lock on the brakes. The rear brake also no interferes with the child seat I use for my daughter. So I'm switching back.

So -- any thoughts on how to fix the cantilever? Use a larger diameter screw? Somehow cut a new thread?

Thanks!

Thanks. Just a thought. Is there anything to stop me fitting caliper brakes? It looks like I have the mounting points. Am I likely to have problems with cable pull?

Would it not be possible to just adjust the brakes by the pinch nut on the cable?

Just check drop. You are likely to need long drop callipers. Shimano do some very good ones which I have on my mudguarded fixed wheel. I assume 700c wheels.
