Stripped crank thread - what to do?

Shiny new SPD pedals arrived this morning - being keen to fit them to my Galaxy, and having already tried removing the old pedals with the cranks still on the bike (Plusgas & pedal spanner - no joy), I decided to remove the cranks first and work on the pedals off the bike.

However - I somehow managed to overlook the crank bolt (not sure how - I've taken the cranks off this bike and others before and never done this!), and happily tightened up the crank puller with it in place...result, stripped threads in the LH crank.

Now, I realise I'm going to need a new crank, but how on earth can I get the old one off without being able to use the threaded tool?

Make a cut through the crank with a hacksaw and you will be able to pull it off.

Did this recently to my MTB - thread striped after many years of abuse...... drill and hack saw through.

SJS to the rescue with a correct left hand crank though, for a 90's Deore LX Crankset..

Thanks for the suggestions - looks like it's hacksaw time! At risk of sounding (even more) stupid, where should I be cutting to make sure I get it out?

Thanks, I shall try there as this is a 90s Deore LX crankset too!
