Hi. As I'm just getting into this cycling I'd like to record my progress but I'm a bit confused as to how. Do I need to wear my phone so it can record my route or can I just input it into my computer after, after I've recorded my route manually.
Is there something else I can use that isn't so bulky?.
If I use my phone, would it be best on my arm or just in a pocket?
Sorry for being dumb.

Phone in a pocket is fine, although Lidl have these at the moment http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-2491.htm?action=showDetail&id=35413

Look like they could be ideal for you.

The alternative is one of the Garmin devices, I have the Garmin Edge 520 which synchs nicely with Strava.

Phone in pocket and forget till after the ride . If you want info speed ,distance etc while riding and don't want the expense of a Garmin consider a Cateye bike computer £15 to £20 easy to fit

As above. I put my phone in a bag on the top tube with Strava running, I can then forget about until the end of the ride and use a cheap cycle computer to keep a track of distance and speed.

What everyone else said. That said, if you use your phone, it's easier mid ride to check your GPS hasn't flunked on you, leading to a dead straight line from your start to end point.
