Strange noise...

Hi all,

I very recently changed the inner tube on my rear wheel [no big deal] which worked out fine. Since putting the wheel back on I have noticed a strange "clicking" noise as such, as if the chain or something is clicking.

The only thing is that it does this noise even when there is no pedalling and I'm in freewheel.

Obviously, I had to handle the chain to get the wheel back on and to actually ride the bike! I'm thinking that I either need to see to the chain and the drivetrain as a whole or whether it's actually that I'm a big bloke [something that I'm sure all my cycling will change pretty soon!]

I have a free service in the bag at the LBS so I'm unsure whether I should just get it checked over by them or if there's anything I can do for myself.

Thank you for any help people are able to give.

Wheel bearings? I had an irregular tick. Then it got regular. It only ticked under load, so it was impossible to isolate the source until it was clear that my hub was already nuked. LBS sounds like a good option since they would lube and adjust the bearings as part of your free service?

that's great - and I think you may have resolved at least part of the problem I have with my road bike...

Derailleur pulleys can squeak often sounding like a bird chirping,
exactly what I have at the moment for some of the problems in this post
