This may seem a silly question, but is it ok to store my bike in the back of my car? I mean lying down. I have an estate so it has plenty of room with both wheels still on etc. will it damage it at all, I.e twist or bow anything?

No problem with storing the bike flat for a journey. Damage to car is more of an issue - scratches or oil drips.

I tend to take of one pedal and the front wheel as it is easier to slide the bike in and out.

You should also consider tying the bike down if you are on the motorway in case of an emergency stop etc

^ this -having loaded mine a few times I noticed my chain ring kept on ending up in the same spot and left a mark
My estate I drop 2 of the rear seats and goes in fine with no need to remove bits and pieces- whip it out on arrival and you're ready to go.

Just from personal experience it's fine don't let handlebars twist to far round cables can stretch and loosen. Not happened to my road bike but did with the mountain bike.

I have plenty of room to put it in with the wheels off, do you only suggest removing the front one for room and ease of movement or is it better for the bike? Thanks for the advice all

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Focus estate, 2/3 rear seat folded. I just 'roll' it in wheels against the nearside side of the car, back wheel first, chainrings etc upwards. No problem, except once I snapped the end off a rear Crud road racer catching it against the back of the front seat.
