I was in my lbs today I have a tax cheque on its way and I'm looking to spend it . My nearest lbs sells low end bikes, adequate but nothing special tucked away in a corner is a lovely looking hybrid full deore drive, deore shifters, deore hydraulics, an rst vogue front fork, jalco rims, deore hubs kenda tyres and a lightweight alloy frame all for the princely sum of £599. I have looked at other shops and there isn't another bike anywhere I have seen as highly specced for the price as this. The problem is it's a canull. I have never heard of this brand. It surely can't be a crap bike with such nice components but it seems too good to be true. Has anybody heard of this brand and know of a good reason why not buy it. It's lighter than my specialiized and has nicer components and is about £50 cheaper but I can't find another shop online that sells them or any reference on the interweb. help me or I may buy it.

Canull?

Dont know that make..? I would search various websites (road.cc, bikerader both have various reviews). It could be a dog in other ways even with good brakes, etc.

Did you have a test ride, sure you'll know whether it is any good then. Any LBS should oblige if it's in the shop?

Never heard of them, and Google shopping returns exactly 0 results! Nuff said IMHO. Consider yourself stopped from doing something silly

Check out Decathalon, or dare I say Halfords even. I never used to recommend Halfords, but enough CC'ers have various Halfords bikes, (Carrea's for example), and they love 'em to bits.

If you know anything about bike maintenance, and you buy a bike from Halfords though, ask them not to build it as it would seem that the vast majority of Halfords Bike Hut personel are inept monkeys who should not go within 50 yards of a 5mm allen wrench! So if you can build it yourself you'd be well advised to do so.

Take your time, test ride a few bikes, see what you like the feel of then you can make a more informed and considered decision.

You can get a Giant Seek1 for £540 which meets the specifications you want. I've got a 2010 model and I love it.

Gotta love Giant. Those frames were built for a lifetime of use imo. Loverly bikes.
