hi guys,

While currently still on my quest for a first road bike I noticed on ebay there are many of these sorts of bikes: ebay ad

Whats the story? Are they any good? This one in particular has the tiagra gearing so I guess its not the most basic model. But I do often relate these 'stock' ebay ads with cheap and nasty bikes.

Rutland Cycling are quite well known. Have ordered a couple of things from them before (but not as big as a bike) with no problem.

Got my son's bike from them - service was excellent and they even threw in some free extras.

One and only dealing with them, but they were on the ball, and the cheapest.

So far so good.

Is the bike any good? Does it have thumb shifters on the hoods?

No, that's Sora. Tiagra is good durable basic stuff. Not the lightest, and not 10 speed, but fine none the less.

You get a carbon fork, and room and fitting for mudguards. What's not to like?!

Ebay is good.

I got a new Airlite U6 Pro (105) for under £500, went and collected it from York, no problems.

Getting the bike assembled and set up is worthwhile, gears take a while to understand.
