I have visitors for lunch and am doing a stir-fry.
I am using pre-packed oriental veg, bean sprouts and chicken (with sweet n sour sauce).

Question.........
Do I add mushrooms ??
Can't for the life of me remember if I do or not.
Thanks.

You can add whatever you want! I often add mushrooms, asparagus, skinny broccoli, baby corn. With sweet and sour, you may want some tinned pineapple too

Mushroom can often release a lot of water and you end up boiling the veg. Personal preference. Love mushrooms but for this reason I don't sue them in stir fry.

Very much this. If you're going to add mushrooms, cook them separately first...

Life is too short to pre cook mushrooms, just chuck it all in, stir and fry!

I wouldn't bother but for the reasons above I wouldn't use them either. Stir fry is much nicer if they don't boil in the fluid that comes out - they go soggy. High heat and crunchy veg is they way to go.

The same applies to Tesco's bags of frozen stir fry. (Something I put up with, because managing and using up leftover fresh food is just too much of a bane.)

One of the advantages of not being a chef is that I don't have a recipe book to tell me what I can & can't do. (I mix my stir fry with couscous instead of noodles, for no particular reason.)

Never cooked/done couscous so don't know what's involved with it. I will find out though.
