Sticking protective gear guide to bottombracket

Looking for some inspiration here, at least to carry me though a few dryish test runs.
I am thinking of using Mastik/silicone or something that may be more straightforward to remove and is readily available maybe caulk or Bluetack even.
It would be fantastic to get a maiden ride or two in tomorrow, so quite excited about fitting brakes and derailers etc.
I am talking about the plastic cable guide that stops the gear wire cutting into the frame, set up for a pair of friction shifters.

I drilled & tapped a small hole and screwed mine on

every frame i have ever seen has a threaded hole (M5) for this purpose. silicone sealant or these grip type adhesive should do the job.
