sti 105 cable change

hi
do sometimes wish you had never started a job.
decided to change the gear cable due to a "fryed end"
got the old cable out ok but cannot get the new cable routed from the shifter to the cable
any tips or do i have to start removing bar tape to get to the out cable?

You may indeed to peel the bar tape back if you're struggling as it can be a faff to get the new cable into the outer when you can't see the wood for the trees.

Yup, if it's sticking and you think it'll tear try warming it with a hairdryer.

I gave up on doing it in situ and now have nice new bar tape as well as clean cables.
