Step by step directions garmin 800

How do I get step by step directions on the garmin 800.

I downloaded a route from garmin connect. It navigated me to the route, but once I got to the route all I got was purple lines of the route and I could not get step by step directions of the route.

What am I doing wrong because it is getting very frustrating now

I have managed the step by step directions for the roads but I am still struggling to get step by step directions off road. Anyone know how to do this on garmin base camp

Hmmm... I just installed Basecamp on my Mac to give it a go, but to be honest it seems quite unworkable. I won't be using it.

I would recommend using Bikehike.co.uk though ... it's very user friendly.

1) Plot your route manually - uncheck the 'Follow Road' option if applicable.
Eg.

2) Use "Add POI/Coursepoint" and add coursepoints on top of your route. See here for more info.
Eg.

3) When you're finished adding coursepoints click on 'Download route' and transfer it to your computer or direct to the Garmin.
At this point you can manually set the "distance to Coursepoint" alert

Pity the Garmin software isn't as intuitive but I couldn't be bothered to persevere with it when there appear to be better options out there for free, like bikehike!

i have created a route on bike toaster.

I cannot get the cue sheet on bike toaster to display on the garmin 800.

I click on add course points and transferred it straight to the device using a gpx and the txt file. Both methods does not have the cue sheet on the garmin 800.

Can someone tell me where I am going wrong.

Sorted it. If you transfer straight to garmin then you don't get the points. You need to save file and save it via garmin training centre and it appears to work
