Hi !
I have replaced my stem on my Fuji Rubaix , swapped from a 90 mm to a 70 mm Pz racing stem. The bike has an alloy steerer with a carbon fork.
My new stem seems to be a tight fit, and not a slide down. I applied some grease and checked for burrs. The stock stem is smooth on installation.
Is this a matter of concern ?
Am i damaging anything.

Good that you have checked for burrs. If with a bit of grease you managed to push it down by hand you shouldn't have to worry about it - after all the clamping force when you tighten the bolts will cause many times the stress you have hitherto applied.

Thanks for replying !
I normally grease the steerer out of habit, after which i tried the stem and then it was a little tight. it does go down when i slide it with a little pressure of my hand. And the stem also rotates with a little force. Is all ok. just concerned !
