I'm dropping from a 54 to a 52 frame to be a little more race like. I think my stem is 90mm & the bars are fairly close. I'm between 5' 7 & 5' 8. What size stem should I go for??

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Assuming you want the same reach just add the difference in top tube size , i ride 2 bikes a 52 and a 54 .One with a 100mm stem and one wiht an 80 mm stem to give the same saddle tip to center of bar measurement .

Assuming you want the same reach, then adding roughly 2 cm would do it (the difference between 54 and 52cm) as the top tube length will normally be relatively proportional to the seat tube.

@cyberknight - Snap!

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...

I have 3 bikes. One has an 80mm stem, one 100mm, the other 110mm.

Also depends on frame geometry the angle of the seat tube and headsets etc.

Best just get a yard stick and measure tip of saddle to centre handle bars.

If you want to be really finicky ( ?) measure from saddle tip to a centre line to where the hoods are, as well as the above different bars can have different reach before the curve down .
