Hi all,

Sorry if this has already been asked but I can't seem to find much info on the subject...
I was wondering what anyone's experiences are in regards to stem length when using different geometry frames, such as a sloping top tube compact to a flat traditional frame?

Reason I ask is I am building up a commuter/light tourer based around a Dolan Preffisio with traditional geometry and on my current best bike I have a compact frame. In theory the seat to handlebar drop will be less on a traditional geometry, so does this mean that this needs to be compensated for with a longer stem length to stretch you out more? Or have I got it all wrong? Is this why you traditionally see quill stems with flat top tubes?

Any experience would be much appreciated!

The seat to handlebar relationship is no different on a compact/sloping geometry frame to a traditional geometry frame. Just more seatpost is showing.
