Hi All,

I have a Giant Defy composite 3 and want to change the stem to a 90mm one. Ive brought a Deda Zero 2 stem and ran into difficulty when fitting it tonight.

I removed the old one now problem but when tighening the top cap onto the new stem it didn't quite fit and therefore left a bit of play in the headset.

So my first question, is there a particular type of top cap needed for the Deda stems or was i just unlucky with the Giant one?

Issue 2. When i was tightening the top cap, i over tightened it and now the whole top of the headset screws out its about three quarters of an inch deep. I can't free the stem cap from it either. Can i just buy a new one or are there loads of different types again??

You probably need to add another spacer somewhere in the mix - sounds like the stack height of the new stem is slightly lower than the old one.

I think you can just buy replacements on a generic basis, good opportunity to pick a funky coloured top cap to taste.

Disclaimer: I don't really know.
