why o why o why can't the bluddy manufacturers decide on a size and stick with it ?
I'm sick to death of measuring stems forks and bars and trying to match them all with my frames Grrrr, god I'm so mad I could do unspeakable things with a hammer and a stem.

Not only do you have to match everything size wize but then you have to convert everything into metric because there are still some annoying anoraks in the UK that insist on using the imperial measurement system despite it being made illegal 20 years ago

Someone needs to do a complete chart of sizes

Don't change em - no problemo with old skool quills...;)

I am still using an old Mavic quill stem on my Massi steel .
I think quills look so much more gracefull than Ahead stems but I've kinda sucumbed to upgrading the old girl. She's not old enough to be classic so she just looks out of date.
Its a real pitta to remove all the bar tape etc every time you want to change anything so its worth it for the ability to remove and replace bar assemblies complete

Sheldon has a handlebar compat. chart.

Bikes are in loverly British inches because they've always been in inches and they always will be. Check the diameter of your frame tubes for example 28.6mm, 34.9mm? Them is inches. Point nine of a mm?? Your chain pitch? Pedal axle? Wheel diameters? All Imperial. The handlebar diameter of every 'Hybrid' in the world and my favourite Imperial standard of them all? Fifteen sixteenths! Wicked.
God save the Queen. etc.

Most aeroplanes are in inches too ! Although Airbus do insist on calling out 6.35 mm, 12.7 mm, 25.4 mm and so on. Russian aircraft (and a few European military aircraft) are in millimetres.

But for all of them their altitude is measured in feet!
