I am doing the short one. My 1st ever event, I am building up the mileage slowly. I am booked up for the 104k New Forest Day Out at the end of April

I am doing the 115km as well. I'll probably be on a red Witcomb with an unusually long wheelbase.
PS - remember to put your clocks forward .

How did you both do? I managed to get round in 5:46 total including just over an hour of stops and two droped chains, which made it hard work to catch up with the others I was riding with.

Six hours - included nearly half an hour sunning myself on the Guildhall steps in Thaxted, a couple of cups of tea at the last control, and waiting whilst one of our group fixed a puncture in the final section.

The puncture was quite dramatic as he hit a small stone at speed. Luckily he was able to control his bike.

Great weather nice and sunny but not too hot.
The beans on toast went down well at popies as did the cake at Great Hormead. I can not for the life of me understand how I could of gained 1lb in weight by the time I got home though.

Well they called it an Introduction and being the novice and my 1st event I managed to get lost:biggrin:

I followed a sign post to Baldock as instructed but did this before the village of Cromer, rather than IN the village of Cromer, so ended up cycling 45 miles instead of 38.5:blush:

What didn't help was getting a puncture, 2 minutes ;) after leaving the park.

But thouroughly enjoyed it, the quintessential English village hall at the 2nd checkpoint was great and the Rock cake and the cup of tea went down a treat.

Will be sending off my application form for the Witham Wander in Essex today.

Glad you enjoyed it and I must say I am glad I had my Garmin as I left the route details on my bedside table after reading them in bed the night before. It saved a big bunch from going wrong just after Walkern they forked left when we should have gone straight on. I got shouted at for slowing and stopping, I should have kept quite and just turned round and left them to it, ungratfull lot. ;)

Do you have a link to the Witham Wander?

And do not forget to look out for the Round Stevenage 50 odd mile ride in the summer and the Summertime reversed in October "emitremmus"
