Hello

I'm new to this forum but I really need your advice.

I'm looking at buying a groupset from sscbikes.com. The site doesn't have a contact number and I can't find any review about the place. I want to buy from them because their prices are so so LOW!

I have been scammed before and wondered if any of you guys have had any experiences with them.

Thanks in advance for any help

Cheers

Looks like a ropey site, but they do accept CCs so you'd be covered in case of scam (and if they clone your card to buy 10 iPad2s)

Short discussion here

The old adage usually holds...if it looks too good to be true...their lack of contact number would put me off completely, there's no reason for it IMO. They do have an address

More than happy to be proven wrong - the complete lack of feedback on the net doesn't bode too well

Not a good enough reason, when a) they don't list a phone number b) they have no accessible premises c) their Facebook link doesn't work d) you can't find any reviews ..... and I would be very wary of prices at 2/3 of RRP.

How about emailing them, saying you want to buy from them but aren't willing to do so without a phone number because there is something you want to discuss? If you don't get a sensible answer, go elsewhere; like your LBS, where you know exactly who you are dealing with and where (if you are a regular customer) you will often get prices as good as from a shed.

I couldn't find any online reviews either...good or bad...so i took the plunge and sent an email enquiring about the Deore Groupset tech specs on Friday AM, I received a reply about 3pm Friday, so went ahead and ordered the groupset (with my CC, just in case!) at about 5pm Friday. I received a goods despatched email with a Parcelforce tracking number on Monday afternoon and the parcel was delivered to my house at 2pm Tuesday (today), all goods present and correct. Yaaayyyy.....shiny stuff for the Butler!!! Don't Ask!!!

This is the first time i have used SSC bikes and can only say it has been a good experience for me, so i say, take the plunge but protect yourself, just in case....i wasn't dissappointed...hope you're not.
