The shifter is catching on the brake lever, I thought the pistons might be sticking so I lubricated them. No luck, could the problem be the gear cable. The unit is still shifting. Maybe the mechanism has just died. Any suggestions welcome.
Do you mean that the shift paddle is catching the back of the brake lever? If so then you can adjust the reach on the shift paddle by pulling it towards the bar and adjusting the grub-screw you’ll find above it and between it and the brake lever. Another cause can be losing the little plastic bumper that’s attached to the back of the brake lever. It’s there to stop the shift paddle snagging but they can fall off. SRAM technical have been known to send a replacement brake lever if you ask nicely (and if they’ve got one to hand).
