Am i missing something here? My front mech is a pain in the arse, i can adjust it and it works perfectly in the stand but when i get on the bike it wont shift unless i stop pedaling push the elver right over then slowly move the pedals for it to change from the small to big ring, also it has a trim feature but only on the downshift, there are three clicks but you need to go all the wqy over to what should be the big chainring first before you can trim down so its useless if your trying to be in the small front ring and small rear cogs!! Have i missed something here?

Also my rear is annoying me now its not very smooth changing into the smaller cogs but is like butter going into the larger ones, no matter how much i use the barrel adjuster its the same, its also been skipping about like mad for the past week or so for no apparent reason, also its made for up to a 28t cassette which i run but it seems to bump around and grind abit when it is in the 28t even when the screw is all the way in so the hanger has the most amount of space when in that cog, its being out done by the shimano tourney on my £70 mtb here and its irritating me, anyone got any ideas?

Yes im using proper cables, as for chain length when i did it the "correct way" big ring big cog as soon as id swotch into the small front ring the chain would flop to the chainstay im running a compact with 11-28 the only way i cpuld get it working was to,shorten the chain but this leaves me without use of the three largest cogs if im in the big ring... Yes you shouldnt be doing that anyway but it shouldnt be so tight its going to rip it apart either, im thinking of trading it in for some 105 tbh..

New inner and outer cables fitted? Front mech properly aligned/set up? Gear hanger bent? I run the same Sram Red. No problems with mine.

I'm thinking it's the hanger causing the issues but I still think it should be a lot smoother changing from the larger cogs to the small, changing into easier ones is really smooth but the opposite way is badly clunky and when I adjust the barrel adjuster to try and correct it it will just start skipping before any difference is made
