Use a new cable (or a properly clipped old one), make sure the mechanism is fully released (or else the holes won't line up properly) and use a torch so you can see where you are threading it into the lever.
Cheers both. Roadrider48, ill have a look at this video later. Citius, I tried it last night with old properly clipped cabling just to try and establish how to route them, but getting new cabling today so hopefully that will help.
