In the past four year I have purchased six Shimano group sets and experienced no issues what so ever, emails have been responded to swiftly even when making uncommon requests such as wiring diagrams for Di2 and asking for advise on fitting the system to MTB.
By contrast I have purchased two SRAM group sets in the past five months and they have both had issues. I have had a rear much replaced from new due to jamming and the hydo has been called back by SRAM twice.
Emails sent to SRAM are slow to be responded to, tweets are the same.. The company is not proactive and has not contacted me, or apologised for the inconvieniece it has caused me or my LBS. When I want to know something I have to ask them.
For all I know SRAM Red 22 may be an oustanding groupset and I hope so however I am unable to comment at this time as due to the rear mech being replaced and the issues with hydro my bike is yet to leave the shop.
My comment was not based upon experience of use, but solely based upon what I have experienced. I do however consider the hydro brakes to be part of the groupset, the reason for this is that they are not independent of the groupset, you are forced to run SRAM shifters (which only work with SRAM mechs) for hydro to function.
I hope my experience of SRAM changes, I really do but I can't help compare the experience to the I usually have from Shimano
As well I'm just whining like a big girl, due to not getting my bike
