Hi,
I'm just on with building my new for which I bought a sram force groupset. ?However, I can't tell which of the cable outers are for gear cables and which for brakes. Included were three different length. Two have the same brown solid looking metal under the plastic, and the other has a number of small strands.

I've tried googling the difference but I can't tell whether or not they are wound etc...

Can anyone help?!

Thanks

there is no difrent's in the outer casing it is the cables and the fitting's for your gear's and brakes that are difrent as i have just purchased a ful gear's and brakes set hope this helps

There is indeed a difference in the outers, Gear casing has the long wire strands in the outer. The brake casing is the one which has a spiral wound 'brown solid metal under the plastic'.
Gear outer will often feel much stiffer as well.
