The anchor screw that holds the cable on my rear derailiur won 't tighten. Does this mean I need a new derailiur or can it be repaired

Depends on the reason for not tightening.

Is the screw damaged? In which case you can order a replacement for less than a tenner, or is it the mech that's damaged?

Seems an odd one though. Have you been fettling?
