I have a Dia Compe Gran Compe saddle - not my choice - rather similar to the sportier brooks.

It was getting a bit saggy recently so I tightened it up. Much more comfortable now - but now it creaks and squeaks like a couple going at it on an old bed while I'm riding!

Thought time and a bit of proofide might soften it up but a week later it's as bad as ever.

Anything I can do to sort it out save ditching it for a Brooks?

All my leather saddles creak and squeak. If anyone has a fix, I'd be delighted to hear it.

I've had this problem with a Brooks Conquest which has springs. Try squeezing oil anywhere wher there is a metal on metal interface. The nose of the saddle but also round rivets, springs etc. It seemed to work for me.

The usual source of the creaking is at the interface of the leather and the steel cap at the toe of the saddle. Using Proofide or indeed any type of wax, stuff some into space and then melt using a Heat Gun or a Hair Dryer so that the leather bearing against the cap is saturated. This usually does the trick.

A bit of 3-in-1 sprayed around the mechanism at the toe of the saddle (where it emerged the creaking was coming from) seems to have done the job effectively and immediately.

Thanks for the help and suggestions!

Hope you have similar luck to myself, tyred.

I solved an issue like this myself.

Remove the saddle. Clean up the fixings removing all dirt (I used a wire brush for the tough stuff).Spray some WD40 on the saddle fixing on the bike and all the contact pieces on the fixings.

Put it back together and give it a spin
