Maybe this topic has been discussed before, but I honestly do not know how to fix it. Well, last weekend I went for a mountain bike ride on a muddy track and I have noticed my brakes started making an odd squeaking noise only after a few minutes of pedaling. I have hydraulic brakes and done approximately 200 miles in one year. Just wondering do I need new brake pads or I just need to clean the disc and brake pads? Can anyone suggest me the best brake cleaning product and some effective cleaning methods?

Thanks..

does the squeeking occur all the time? does the squeaking start/stop as the wheels turns?

usually this is cuased by pad contact on part of the disc, shimming out the caliper to give clearance between pad and disc fixes it.

lift up the front and then the rear and spin the wheels to see which one is squeeking,

Hi there. I hope you have got this problem sorted but if not try these two simple fixed.

1/ With bike upright undo wheel QR and redo. This will realign the wheel.

2/ Slacken off the two bolts that hold the disk callipers spin the wheel and apply the brakes. Repeat and then retighten (alternate between the bolts) callipers.

If neither of these fixes work, take off the wheel and insert the material from an old t-shirt between the pads and pull back and forth. This should remove and grit, muck, etc. When putting the wheel back on repeat step 1.

Best of luck mate
