Two years ago I began using a bike to cycle to my gym sessions, this then developed into regular commuting to work and has subsequently moved on to me getting a road bike (Cube Peloton) through C2W. I have what in my opinion is a nice bike and have been truly bitten by the bug, so sportives are probably the next logical step. I have two in my sights, both relatively local for me. The first is the Chiltern Challenge 100 in June, and the second is the Anthony Maynard Sportive a few weeks later. In both events I am intending to do the shorter routes. Although I am clear about the Anthony Maynard route it is less clear from the Chiltern Challenge map as to the direction the route goes. an anyone confirm that the 100K route goes north from Henley as I think it does, and also has anyone any experience of either of these events they would be willing to pass on.
I am currently riding around 100 miles+ a week with my longer rides between 30 and 40 miles in length at around 17/18 MPH. my rides are usually on rolling terrain around Wokingham/Crowthorne although I have ventured into the Chilterns recently to the Stonor Valley.
