Can someone please offer some advice I have sram red brakes and levers the newer version and they just feel horrid and spkngey, even when they are big hitting the rim at the same time, I have carbon wheels and honestly I've no confidence at all

What pads are you using?

Assuming there isn't some gross installation error, spongeyness at the lever doesn't mean the braking will be weak - usually the opposite. The spongyness is due to the brake being able to apply such a high force that the pads compress, rims flex, brake arms bend, etc. I suggest you actually try riding the bike to see how well it brakes.

I wouldn't be fussed about the Spongey brakes if the bike stopped properly, it just feels like something is flexing too much it's not the rim though despite it being carbon
