Looking at those specs I can't see why anyone would pay an extra £300,and it's heavier too:ohmy: Nice bikes though.

The Comp has carbon seat stays with Zertz inserts, I think that's the main difference.

Is it worth it? Dunno, without knowing your salary, bank balance and committed monthly outgoings. Post them up and I'll let you know. ;)

I know that, for me, the Sport was the best combination of price and spec, but I'll always be wondering about the 105 kit.

Doesn;t seem much norm for £300 was expecting an upgraded groupset at least.I'll probably put 105 on my sport when the Sora/Tiagra wears out.

It's true, Potsy, it doesn't seem much. But, when you get towards the top of any range (cycles, cars, computers, cameras... and that's just a few c's ;) ) you start to spend disproportionately to get the extra.

For instance, £650 will buy you a complete Secteur Sport, with Sora / Tiagra drive, Alex S500 wheels & alloy stays... etc. It'll cost you another £650 on top to get the Comp with 105 kit, Tektro brakes, Mavic rims and carbon / Zertz stays. Does that make the Comp twice the bike? In any measurable terms, probably not. Would I still love to have one? Darned right I would, if I could afford it.

That's why it is difficult to answer "is the Comp worth £300 more than the Elite". I know that, for my particular set of circumstances, I'd love to be in the position that I could afford it but I can't. If, however, I had no family and was looking for something to complement a couple of carbon bikes, then I could easily justify it.

If the only change is the seat stays then I don't think it's really worth it. £300 is a long way towards a nice set of wheels....

The 300 notes is purely for the extra carbon and slightly better grade of ALU frame.

I was going to get it but thought for that price it was too expensive for what it is so went for the elite which I thought suited my needs better.

It is worth mentioning that the rims are the same Mavic CXP22 but on the comp they are the S variety which means they are eyeleted where as on the Elite they are not but the same rim none the less.

Its still a nice bike but I don't feel its worth an extra 300 no way and the colour scheme although looks better in the flesh is not great.

£300 for that little bit more comfort...not really worth it is it?
And a that price range you are into full carbon frames anyway.

+1 my thinking exactly - this topic has been well covered in a similar thread on another forum, its not taking anything away from the comp and the bike it is designed to be, but the price makes it slightly less appealing.

Having said that, I wish I had paid the extra and got the inserts.......;)

I have just ordered the comp. Glad to see everyone on here doesn't think it is worth the extra

The reason I paid the extra is because it is a better frame. The front and rear forks and seat posts are all carbon with zertz inserts. Also the grade of alluminium is better. If later I want to upgrade the components i.e. brakes and wheels, I can - the frame I have to stick with. imo it looks nicer too being a matt finish.

I will mainly be using it for a 15M commute (Bristol-Bath). Can't wait to get it!!

at the £1300 price point it might be worthwhile shopping around to see if there are any 2009 model roubaix left. ive seen one fairly recently for about that price.

Do you know where? I did look, but couldn't find anything. It seems a bit late to find 2009 models.

I didn't pay the £1300, my lbs gave me a 10% discount and I am getting it on the cycle to work scheme. Therefore, it is only costing me £570
