Hello

I've ordered the Spesh Sport 27 2011 road bike but I'm considering ammending the order for the Cube Peloton Road 2011

I need to make an urgent decision by 1st thing in the morning and also have a frame size issue (I know the best thing is to try but I'ts impossible at the moment due to work restrictions)

Two questions

which is the better spec

Spesh

http://www.evanscycl...ampaign=froogle

Cube

http://www.chainreac...x?ModelID=57245

The second question is the frame size

I am 5ft 8 1/2 with a 32" inside leg and the spesh chart tells me I need a 54cm frame

But i am struggling to get a definative answer on the cube and cant decide between 53cm or 56cm

I have read somewhere the Cubes are on the smaller size and to go next size up,but thats not a fact from the Cube website

Would appreciate answers on both questions please

i can answer this question perfectly for you in terms of the frame size  im roughly the same height as you but with a slightly smaller leg length, I ride a 54 Allez Sport which is perfect for me but I also have a Cube Agree GTC which is a 53. I tried a 56 Cube but it seemed ever so slightly big for me in terms of the top tube being a bit too near my jewels for my liking, so I settled for the 53 and tweeked a few bits n bobs ( seat height, longer higher stem etc ) and its lovely jubbly now.

im afraid I cant really help you in terms of the specs of both bikes but the Peloton is a very sexy looking bike, the Spesh has done me so proud over the last year or so.

whatever you decide in the end you,re not gonna be disapointed so its a win win as far as moi is concerned ......... good luck sir !!

Thanks for the replies ,really appreciated

Rec the frame size,i sort of guessed I'd have to go for the 53cm and raising the seat height etc as I cant reduce the 56cm if its too big

The Allez 10 speed.....

I need the granny gears for these darn hills in the Pennines  (plus I'm really not a fan of red bikes  )

Think it's going to be the Peloton 53cm if I can change the order and price match that is on offer

Failing that I'll stick with the Allez Sport as it's still a great bike

Ended up ordering the Spesh

Leisure lakes wouldn't price match on the Cube because I am buying on it on a 12 months low interest finance

Leisure Lakes have it up for sale at £849.00 but I had seen it at Winstanleys for £679 but they dont do terms.

Suppose I could have bought it from Winstanleys but the wife will spot £679 going out of the account

Not too dissapointed as I'm still getting a great bike

Hope so

One question (hope its not too dumb  )

How do you use Shimano Sora STI shifters  and how good/bad are they as I keep reading (after I ordered) they're towards the bottom of the prefferred shifters

I'll be riding 99.9% of the time on the top (hoods?)

Yip 2wd the Spesh is a great ride, I've had an Allez comp for the past 8 years, and she is still going strong! She's a bit of farm gate when I compare her to all the carbon exotics out there, but she gives me great ride every time! Good choice - Enjoy!

Enjoy! I've had great fun out of my Allez over the last couple of years. I love the frame so getting to the stage of thinking about upgrades. I have 2300 on my basic model so even lower down the mech chain!

I used to have Sora shifters on my Secteur Sport but recently upgraded to Tiagra as I thought that I wanted to ride on the drop more. However in reality I still hardly ever go on the drops and have really wasted money. The change is maybe slightly smoother but next to nothing. The Sora's work well IMHO, I am sure that you will have no issues. Nice bike by the way

Well she finally got delivered :becool:

First time ever on a proper Road bike and my what a difference to anything I have ridden before,so sharp and precise and much easier going up the hills.

Bit scary going down the hills on those hoods and trying to brake

Legs are aching a bit though so probably need to do some adjusting.

Only complaint is the naff pedals, popped on the ones off the Felt Hybrid until I get a new set.
