I was hoping to drive upit he Tourmalet the day before, find a spot to park, pitch the tent and watch the stage the next day.

I have been told by someone who went in 2010, that there were nowhere to park anywhere on the Tourmalet THREE DAYS before.

Plan B is to ride up it 1st thing on race day.

Plan C would be to get up on the Peyresourde, camp out for 2 nights and catch both stages.

What do you reckon ?

Thanks,

Do some solid research before riding up it 1st thing on race day. Find out how long a mortal takes to climb it before you make any firm plans.

I am planning on riding up the Peyresourde on race day not sure which day yet (18th or 19th) and camping. I am expecting it to be chaos especially with them riding over on consecutive days. Reading various reports the road gets closed upto 36 hours before to motorised vehicles (normally when the flics decide there is no parking left) and the the crowds walk and cycle up on the morning. Should be an experience.

Planning on riding the Aspin and Tourmalet when the crowds have hopefully vacated on the 19th/20th or the 20th and 21st

I am gonna be out there for this by incredibly jammy coincidence ! Am out in Pau for work for a week and I would appear to have chosen the right week! ;)

It will be my first time watching the Tour (apart from watching it zoom past somewhere in the Dordogne when on holiday as a kid) and am v excited... But have no idea how to go about watching it really. Sounds like it will be pretty rammed... Any advice appreciated!
