Spectacam Dual Helmet Video Camera Kickstarter

Just thought I would share this Kickstarter for those who use video cameras cycling or a considering doing so. I personally currently run two cameras so the idea of a single unit with two built in cameras and being waterproof appeals to me.

I am also interested in others thoughts on the design as I am yet to make a decision re putting in for it.

The camera website is at http://spectacam.com and the Kickstarter is at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/spectacam/spectacam-a-dual-video-sports-helmet-cam-with-wifi

Compact aerodynmic hole through your skull if you come off and auger into the ground camera first. Seen it once with a helmet mounted torch and it ain't pretty.

Yes, this popped up on a thread yesterday. I'm curious to know how they will be able to get a battery to power 2 cameras, wifi and an LED light for 3 hours with the whole thing weighing under 200gr.

I would imagine the mount would be designed to snap in a crash instead of staying solid and piercing through your helmet and skull.

Good point. I would assume the wi-fi is generally only used for setup so that would help with battery life but I did think the claimed three hours was a bit ambitious.

Not very practicable either, you would have to keep adjusting it to keep the optimum viewing angle on both cams to suit different riding positions, as one would be looking at the floor on front one and the sky on back one, the only it would work would be to have auto giro's, and more batt power.

That is the nature of with helment cameras. I would'n think it was a design fault in the camera because someone moves their head  .

The bigger issue is the one Cyclegaz raised elsewhere with the rear view camera ... the lack of reference point. With the front camera you want to move with your head to show where you are looking and what you are looking at.

This has proved successful for me in one incident as my head movement showed that the road to my left was empty moments before a car crossed in front of me.

Wow, 395 quid for that, police probably wouldn't have bothered here, mind you, your police come down hard on motorists compared to UK.
