Specialized Tricross replacement

Just had my Spesh Tricross nicked. Gutted of course. If the insurance pays up I may just get the newest model but no harm in looking around. Can anyone advise what other bikes are similar in cost and style? I loved the Tricross but when I bought it I had to complain because the tyres were rubbish and the forks had to be replaced.

Hi,

Ex-tricross owner here.

I loved my tricross but had to sell it due to space issues and mainly riding on the road, and I already had 2 road bikes.

If you liked the tricross, then I would suggest another... but would also recommend having a look at others too. One thing to be aware of is that there seem to be 2 types of cyclo cross bikes that dont often seem discussed. The tricross is what I would call a ruggedized road bike, that can take mud guards and a rack, then the other type, cyclo cross racers, such as the Specialized crux that is just for racing and no guards ot rack provision. Just make sure the bike you get can do what you want.

Quite a few of the cyclocross bikes seem to be putting rack/guard mounts on some of their range to aim for some of the Tricross type market, but not many of them seem to have the gearing, rack/guard/bottle mounts of the Tricross and moreso if you specifically want disc brakes. I think the Boardman CX are fairly similar. I really like the look of the Focus Mares and the Cannondale CX but neither are 100% perfect for my checklist

Lots of choice in this sector now, definitely a popular style of bike at the minute.
Disc braked, beefed up road bike/ideal commuter with clearance for wide tyres and rack and guard points.

You could even look at the new Secteur disc, which has clearance for guards and 28cc tyres I believe

Spesh are now selling the Tricross, Secteur and Sirrus with disc options... which is nice. I foresee a Sirrus Elite Disc in my future.

The Tricross did everything I wanted. Perfect for commuting, weekend rides up Welsh mountain passes and shorter sprints around parks and city cycle routes. I will def look at getting another the same but some of the other suggestions look great, esp the Cannondale. Thanks. Other suggestions welcome.
