I have dropped off my Specialized Secteur at the LBS (EBC) as the weld between the seat tube and top tube has failed.
I don't have any pics as it is not visible, but the front of the weld appears to have come away from the top tube.
Does anyone have any recent experience of Spesh frame warranty?

Yep had my langster frame replaced under warranty 3 yrs ago, no problem, no trouble, In fact i was offered a brand new bike at half the price but declined. Oh and it was the latest frame model, complete with front forks, stem and seat post. Of course the old ones would never have fitted!

BTW it was the chain stay on mine that had split at the wee hole, so not at any welds, also the front forks on the original and started to deteriorate at the head where the carbon legs are glued, paint was rippling. That alone may have been enough to warrant a replacement anyway!

How old was your bike and how long did the process take? EBC said it can take some time.
My bike is a 2010.

Is it something you'll rebuild yourself Leaway?
When my 2 year old Bianchi frame cracked, they supplied a replacement frame, but my LBS wanted to charge to rebuild the bike. The frame was warrantied, not the components they said. That may be quite normal, maybe not...I did it myself anyway but its interesting to know how others get on in that respect, just out of interest.

When I had a frame replaced under Specializeds crashing replacement service my lbs charged me £90 to swap everything over.

Gave me a new frame when my Allez had a crack in the headtube - 8 years old it was - replaced it with a tri-comp frame (my allez was the entry level one!)

So general consensus is.. with Specialized, if your frame fails.. they do the right thing.

EBC did say there would be no charge if Spesh agreed the warranty. I bought it off them and others so I am a regular customer. If I have to rebuild it, so be it, I would be happy with that. The wheels are brand new, and the shifters are only about 6 months old.
Thanks for the replies. I will update on what happens

I'm getting the impression that it isn't very unusual. Seems to be a few failures at about 5 years. Perhaps the warranty assumes most people won't ride them much. Good to know they replace when needed though.

I think also a lot depends on dealers as well, mine was a C2W bike bought on the Halfords scheme ( was the only choice) however i dealt with Leisure lake bikes as that is whom originally sourced the bike for Halfords for me. Being charged to swap over the components is not unusual TBH, in my case all they did was fitted new cranks to mine as my originals went with the bike ( seized on ) cost me £60 for those but that was it, i rebuilt the bike myself no biggie ? Very seamless in total and good service. Trek are also good from what I`ve seen a mate had a Domane frame snap and it was replaced no quibbles at all, good dealer in this case !
