specialized saddles and sizing

I had a hour free today so went into the local specialized store. My sit bones are in the 155cm range, which I guess it their largest size. However, neither of my current two saddles are anything like that wide - charge spoon and brooks b17. The latter is very comfortable and great for commuting as its gives a little. The former is OK and good for shorter distances.

What I wanted is something with the comfort of the brooks but with the hassle free factor of the charge spoon.

So its two questions - what does 155 mean for saddle width and what beast exists that combines a charge spoon and brooks b17?

thanks

The 155 is a reference distance between your sit bones. You are supposed to obviously sit on your sit bones however if you have poor posture or am unfit you may roll the hips and not support yourself on the sit bones at this time.
Did you not try saddle while you are in the specialized store? They have a good selection.

they will take them off and fit them to your bike for you to try if you ask. Also they have a 30 day trial period with any saddle your purchase (just hang on to the original packaging and receipt). I am currently 10 days into a trail period with the Spech Phenom Expert saddle after taking my Thorn Nomad touring bike into one of their stores for a new saddle. I have also been measured at 155 in the past as well, but don't find the 155 saddles very comfortable. Currently trialing a 143 and actually considering dropping to the 133 (?) size.
Currently regretting not having purchased 2 of a particular saddle many years ago - it finally wore out after 15,000 miles and was discontinued in that time period. So tip: as and when you find one you really like - buy 2 of them!

My LBS has some weird contraption that takes your measurements. I came out as 155 as well and bought the Specialized BG Romin Evo Expert. I've done a few 100 mile rides recently and haven't been in any discomfort in that region.

Those are narrow sit bones for a woman! Giving birth naturally could be kind of ouchy!
Really? I have been measured twice and both times I measured 143 which is quite narrow for a woman. I have had two children with no problems so perhaps the width of the sitbones doesn't relate to childbirth?

when I was at my illest some 6-7 years ago (weighing in at 54kg) I wore UK size 2 jeans (still only in UK 8's now) ...as for kids, other miracles will have to happen first, one of them being my health, so it is probably less important than a comfy saddle. (mind you with my family's track record - size of my mother (large) and her 4th child even larger (born 13lb 10 oz), I'm not sure I want to go there!)

It's a bit more complicated than that...
The 155 is 155mm (15.5cm) between sit-bones. The Brooks B17 is 17cm wide - so about 15.5cm between sitbones.

If you want something with the comfort of a Brooks - buy a Brooks. There is no hassle connected with owning one, bar a roughly annual wipe-over with some Proofide. The brown ones can be a bit less rain-resistant than the black ones - but my current commuting saddle is a brown Brooks that got left out in the rain on its first outing, without a proper Proofide first. That remains the only Brooks (tens of thousands of miles later) on which I've adjusted the tensioning bolt.
