Specialized Espoir Sport Tyre

While washing my bike today after a ride, I noticed
three pock marks on the running surface of the
Specialized Espoir Sport Tyre. (Two front. one rear.)

Tiny holes, 1mm deep, but look serious.

Tyres have barely done 300mls.

Does anyone know if this tyre is succeptible to this type of damage?
Would it be safe to rely on the Kevlar belt and continue riding?
I am reluctant to replace "like for like"

I would guess not. Front wheel wear is not something I have ever experienced.
A coloured band would be effective, but indicator holes seem like shooting the customer in the foot!

Yes, my Specialized Roubaix tyres had them.

OMG!!! I would have guessed that grit would lodge in these holes and work into the carcase.
Leaves me with one more question - Why did they wear so quickly?

They're fine while the holes are still there, its when they aren't holes any more that you need to worry.

My Specialized Ruby came with Espoir Elite and I can confirm that they also have the two little holes which are definitely wear indicators. Nothing to worry about.

I stand corrected.
Only been cycling for 55 years and have never heard of manufacturing holes in a tyre!
My Roubaix Triple is fantastic. Bought it for the gearing, am reborn and am now fitter than for 30 years.
