Do you definitely need a triple? The lowest gear on the one I looked at was 34 x 28 which is fairly low.

Have you had a look around to see if anyone has the 2010 model I know that alot of shops are selling the 2010 secteur range at a good discount dont know about the roubaix though.

I must admit I am glad I got a 2010 Secteur Elite when I did as I have looked at the 2011 model and I would rather have mine.

My Roubaix comp has a compact and my cycling buddy has a triple on his Pinarello. On hills we have noticed that with both of us in our lowest gear we are pedalling at the same revs.

You don't need a triple on a road bike unless you're planning to tour or regularly tackle 33% hills.

Have personally never rode a road bike with a triple chainset, have got a compact on mine and has done all sorts of hill including 25%>

Are you sure you really need a triple? Even on my MTB I am rarely in the bottom ring.

I had the same thoughts as you, I went for the Synapse with the 32 on the rear cassette. It's delicious. That might sound like a strange adjective to use with a bike, but I assure you, it's THE very word!

Hi

I've come from Shimano to SRAM on my 'good' planet x bike and personally I love double tap. It didn't really take me any time to get used to and the gear changes are as smooth and slick as you would expect on any modern gear system.
