Hey all,

Complete newbie to Road riding, currently own a Sirrus Sport, but regret getting that and want a roadie!

Anyway, I've been looking at 2 options... I can either get an Allez Sport Compact 2012 for around £6-700 (http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCProduct.jsp?spid=62282&scid=1101&scname=Road), or a 2009 Allez Elite, in very good condition, only 200 miles usage, for £500 (http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?sid=09Allez)

Now to me, the Elite seems a no-brainer, and way better than the other model which is more expensive. Have heard some things about a less aggressive riding style on the 2009 Elite, but I'm unsure. Am hoping to paricipate in road riding regularly, so want one that'll last and not hinder my performance (I know the engine is more important than the bike, but every little helps!) The only thing I could think as a downside is that the Elite is a 54cm frame. I'm 5'11, so would this be far too small? (My Sirrus is a 61 I think, which is WAY too big). So which one should I choose?

I'd be ever so grateful if anyone could help me choose, thanks so much in advance!

The 54" Elite will be too small for you. I'm 5.11" and i have ridden a large 56" frame, eveni wouldn't buy a 54"

54 might be too small but I'm 5'10'' and a 54 is fine for me (it feels a bit upright these days but still very comfortable for long training rides).

If you can, have a ride and see how it feels.

Seem to recall that the 2010 and older Allez were quite relaxed and quite similar to the Secteur. 2011 onwards they changed to a more agressive set-up, to differentiate from the Secteur.

Would have thought you'd need a 56.
