So today was my first ride with spd pedals and it went well! I had a quick go yesterday but I struggled to get clipped in, which ended my ride early. But today I thought id have another go and take time when clipping in. After a few miles it came natural and im well chuffed with it! Only thing I did find was I got a pain at the back of my neck but I don't think its related to the pedals. Moral of the story is keep trying you will get there! Heres my ride! http://www.strava.com/activities/203432598

I get a lot of pain on long rides due to tensing up. Don't even realize I am doing it most of the time but that's where mine comes from. Just had to live with it although it is bloody sore at times.
Just got to remember you're clipped in when coming to a stop at lights etc, they are the times when you're more likely to come a cropper!

There will come a time, it becomes a none issue (now you watch I will take a fall for saying that), I had more trouble clipping in to start with than unclipping

Don't ride flats, but I can see this happening.

Im ok at unclipping to be fair. Like yourself it was clipping in where the problem was. I felt rushed at lights and ended up slipping of the pedal. In the end I decided to relax and take my time which proved to be successful!

I've run clipless for a few years now, and unclipping comes naturally, although sometimes I find myself not unclipping at all at junctions and balancing, getting quite good at it now:laugh:
