Hi
I use Look and walk like a

. They are not really confortable to walk in and 1* could damage the cleats, 2* damage wooden floor, 3* I have occasionally slipped (not fallen though!)

Is it difficult to get used to SPD from using Look's? Do they work on the same principle, ie twisting your ancke outwards?

Amy feedback / opinions welcome

thanks

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I have used both and unless you are full on racing the loss of power from going from a smaller recessed cleat to a full on 3 point cleat is negligible.

They work on the same principle of a twist to get out so i would think you would find it easy to cross over , i use SPD`s for commuting and club rides and i find them fine for group riding and excellent for commuting.

As you say they cleats are recessed so they a lot easier to walk on, a reall factor for me as i have a good trek to the changing rooms up stairs so i find it as easy as walking in normal shoes.
If you do not want to damage your cleats then maybe get some cleat covers to put on , you will still waddle but at least you will not damage your cleats.
I find SPD metal cleats last longer but i have slipped with them on wet floors as you have a shiny bit of metal under your feet...

Personally i prefer SPD`s.

Just got some Look pedals. Not got round to putting them on the bike yet though!
Using flat pedals at the moment, bit nervous of going clipless to be honest.

I use both,

SPD for work bike keo's for racing, I have to say racing aside and the fact I find the bigger road platform better for power transfer etc, I'm happier in my SPD shoes.

I feel comfortable getting off the bike walking and they feel more versatile. For commuting they are a pleasure i don't dread stoping and starting and I've had the same pedals shamano m540 and cleats for 2 years and still loads of life yet.

Saying all that I wouldnt race in them so it depends on the application I suppose.

I use spd's on my mtb and on my road comutte bike, ideal for comutting because of stopping and starting alot, spd's are definitely easier to clip in and out of compared to look.

When I ride longer distances at the weekend I use look as I find them more comfortable and better for powering more on the flat and climbing.

Shoes make more difference than the pedal make.

If you need to walk a lot and stop/start then recessed cleats make more sense. If you only walk a little though Keos are fine - I almost always carry my cleat covers and slip then on any time I get off the bike to walk more than a few steps.
