Looking for some spd shoes for the fixed - could proabably stretch to about 40 smackers but the cheaper the better - also i am not that bothered about being able to walk in them, as I am used to spd-sl's.

Why dont you just get another set of SPD-SLs then and save your money on buying another set of shoes and another set of pedals.

don't believe Joe if he claims different

get speedplay zeros

Thats bollocks!!!
They are easier, just dont miss them first time. I found it easier to get into them on the fixed then when they were on the Giant, they sort of moved around so you could shoot straight in. And learn to track stand, wont need to unclip then;)
Test it out, put your SPD-SLs on the fixed and have a try. I found them easier, you might find it harder.

If you're not likely to stop at loads of lights/junctions or do lots of hill-starts then you'd be fine on SPD-SL's - there's a few people on here who have no problem but I suspect they're track standing champions. I ride fixed mostly on a hilly commute so I'd be cacking myself every time I stopped on a hill if I had one sided pedals.
