Hi - I won a pair of cycling shoes off eBay that can be used with or without SPD pedals. They are a Nike off road shoe as the tread is like a vibram but there are two studs in the ball of the foot - I presume this is where the cleats fit for the SPD pedal?

I'm not sure how universal these are and probably need to visit my local bike shop, but I would like to try clipless pedals to see if I like the set up.

My present set up is conventional plastic pedals with a half pedal clips I slip my Hi Tec Squash trainers into; a size too small so they fit tight.

They sound conventional and yes the studs are where the cleats go. Switch to clipless you won't regret it.

If you take the shoes into a good LBS to buy the pedals and cleats they should fit the cleats for you. This is what my LBS did first time round.
