hi,for the last 12 months i have been using the m520 pedals on my road bike and my hybrid along with the DHB R1 road shoes and this has been great for me so far, however i have started commuting this week on the hybrid(claud butler legend)and with full panniers the bike is much heavier than before.I am now finding that because of the very very smooth sole on the shoes if i dont manage to clip in first time after stops etc my foot is very easily slipping around/off the pedals sending me into some panic mode. This wasnt a problem without the extra weight because i could get a go roll going from the initial set off giving me plenty of time to clip the other foot in,this is now not the case.So im wondering if i should invest in more of an MTB style shoe just for the hybrid/commute and will this give me decent enough grip on the pedal until i manage to get clipped in?
Just seen the DHB M1'S at wiggle same as the road shoes but with tread on sole and recessed cleat position, will defo get some if advice is it will help(very very happy with the r1's,like new after 12 months of daily use).
Cheers

just too long ian.

Seriously though,thanks for the advice.

I had brought the saddle forward some too so im wondering if this had an impact on my piss poor performance clipping in the last 2 days (last 12 months been clipping in 1st time for 99%)

seem to go through phases with clipping in, more often then not I usually clip in straight away without even thinking about it, but you do get those days when you just can't clip in.. bloody annoying

I have the DHB M1's. Pleased with them

Also have 520s, good combo.

Still quite rigid but not uncomfortable to walk in.

Go for the MTB ones, as you can usually still pedal with the unclipped foot. I use them on the Fixed for commuting.
