Does anyone know if the single release ones tend to be a bit longer than the multi release?

I started using SPDs over a year ago and since I had pedals with SPD on one side I bought the multi release as that seemed safer for a beginner. I've now bought some new shoes and have just fitted SPD single release cleats which seem to be the ones that always come with SPD pedals to these shoes.

They seem to be a few mm longer and I could adjust the pedals but obviously don't want to have to keep doing this. So I'm prob better off buying some new multi release cleats. However, it could just be that the old ones have worn = shortened?

Any advice appreciated.

shouldn't be any longer. both types of cleats should be compatible with the pedals, it's just that multi release cleats can (apparently) be released by pulling straight up.
I don't like multi release cleats. you can still release single release cleats by twisting your foot either way - i.e. heel in/toe out, or heel out/toe in (normal).

Do you actually have any problems using single release cleats?

Well, I've never tried them. I'm prepared to, but not if I have to adjust the pedals between different shoes.

I take the multi release releasing upwards as a sign of needing to tigthen up the adjustment on the pedal and then they are fine.
